About...
Those students who have chosen
to study Graphic Arts will find that the techniques
of artistic creation are complemented by a thorough
training in advertising, in that art is the most
important tool used in that industry. The function
of the graphic designer is to transmit through images
the advertiser’s message.
The programme of Graphic
Arts is created to train illustrators and creative
designers capable of moving into high-level positions
in the design and illustration fields.
Each course is designed so
that the students receive a balanced and varied
combination of learning experiences: workshops,
seminars, tutorials, group projects, traditional
classes, and independent study. Basic disciplines
such as artistic drawing and geometry are complemented
by more modern ones – photography, computer-assisted
design, techniques of reproduction, printing, etc.,
and students are provided with the latest computer
programs for a complete familiarisation with the
tools of their future profession.
Given the nature of the
programme, students will, from their first year
on, be assembling their own professional portfolios
with samples of the work they have done throughout
the course. This will be of vital importance when
pursuing other complementary studies, or when eventually
applying for their first jobs. |
